Andy Cavins Image
Andy Cavins
Head Coach - 1st Season

Coach Andy Cavins takes over the Lindsey Wilson volleyball program in January and will coach his first season in 2011.

Cavins spent the last two seasons as head coach at NCAA Div. III Letourneau (Texas) University. He is a former assistant coach at the University of Georgia.

Most recently, Cavins coached at the Dallas Premier and Dallas Summit Volleyball Clubs. Cavins coached the 17 and 15 under age groups.

At Letourneau, Cavins took over for a program that had just completed a 2-28 season with no conference wins in 2008. During Cavin's tenure, the team compiled the most wins in the program's history over a two-year span and finished fourth in its 15-team conference in 2010.

In addition to its top-four conference finish, Cavins' team amassed a 3.23 cumulative grade point average -- the highest of any sport on the Letourneau campus. His team also concluded the season with five all-conference players, including the American Southwest Conference sportsmanship award winner.

As an assistant at Georgia, Cavins was part of a staff that inherited a Bulldog team that had finished 6-25 in the season prior to their arrival. Cavins helped Georgia to a 17-13 record in his first season with the Bulldogs and had a First Team All-Southeastern Conference performer and a First Team All-SEC Freshman team selection.

Cavins' main responsibilities at Georgia included on-court development, recruiting coordinator and camp director. As a staff, Georgia was able to sign a Top-50 recruiting class that included the nation's second-ranked setter.

Cavins replaces Heather Collins, who stepped down from the position in November due to family responsibilities.

Cavins -- a former NCAA Division I baseball student-athlete at Baylor University -- also used his time on campus to serve as a student assistant for the Baylor volleyball team. Cavins participated as a practice player, on-court trainer and facility manager.

Including his work at the Dallas club, Cavins also has coached club volleyball in Georgia -- where he was co-director and 18's Open coach. He also worked with the Dallas Juniors Volleyball Club and the Addison Boy's Volleyball Club.

Cavins also enjoys experience as a volleyball camp director at every level. He has led six different high-school camps, the Fort Worth YMCA camp, and camps at Southern Methodist University, Baylor, Georgia and Letourneau.
