Head Coach - 5th Season

Coach Edwin Hagans begins his fifth season in 2009-10 as cross country and track & field coach at Lindsey Wilson College.

In his first four seasons as cross country coach, Hagans has turned the Blue Raiders into one of the top programs in the Mid-South Conference. The women's program has captured two of the last three Mid-South Conference championships (2006 and 2007) and the men's team won the program's only MSC championship in 2007.

Hagans owns five MSC Coach of the Year awards in his short tenure. He has won outright or shared the MSC Men's Coach of the Year award -- as voted on by his peers -- each of the last three seasons (2006-08). He was also selected as the MSC Women's Coach of the Year in 2006 and shared the award in 2005.

Under Hagans' direction, 13 men and 11 women harriers earned all-conference honors, including one MSC Runner of the Year. Hagans has also coached one NAIA All-American.

In addition to his cross country coaching duties, Hagans leads the indoor and outdoor track & field teams during the spring season.

The Blue Raiders have scored in each of the four seasons at the NAIA Track & Field National Championships. The Lindsey Wilson women's track & field team finished a team-best 16th last season at the indoor national championships while the men finished 18th at the national championships.

Hagans has been named MSC Coach of the Year in women's track & field twice and men's track & field once. He has coached 31 all-conference performers (17 men, 14 women) including a player of the year. Hagans has coached nine men and seven women to NAIA All-American honors.

Prior to Lindsey Wilson, Hagans served as an assistant coach in track & field at Berea (Ky.) College. While an assistant coach at Berea, Hagans coached six track and field national championship participants. Two became All-Americans, one was a two-time national champion, and one was an All-American in two events.

Prior to his coaching career, Hagans was a four-year letter winner in track as an undergraduate. He earned All-American honors in the 400-meter hurdles in 1995 and was selected Most Valuable Track and Field Athlete at Berea College in three of his four seasons.

Aside from his coaching, Hagans served as a professor of fitness and wellness at Eastern Kentucky University while earning his Masters of Science in sports administration. Hagans was also a personal trainer in Orlando, Florida.

Hagans and his wife, Mandy, reside in Columbia and have one son, Adin.
