COLUMBIA, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson wrestling's Daniel Leonard was named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America At-Large Second Team, the organization announced on Monday.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Leonard completed his senior season at Lindsey Wilson with a 3.41 grade point average, while majoring in psychophysiology. During his final season with the Blue Raider wrestling program, he earned All-American honors for the second time in his career with a third-place finish at the NAIA Wrestling National Championships in the 149-pound weight class.
The native of Sherwood, Oregon is a three-time Academic All Mid-South Conference honoree, and a three-time All-MSC performer. This is the first season Leonard garnered CoSIDA Academic All-District and All-America recognitions.
The College Division Academic All-America at-large teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions.
The at-large program for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.
