ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer team scored in each half en route to a 2-0 win over Graceland (Iowa) University today at the Lindenwood (Mo.) University Classic.
Lindsey Wilson senior Carnell Learmond and sophomore Lwandiso Gonya each scored to help the top-ranked Blue Raiders improve to 3-0 on the season. Graceland falls to 0-2-1 with the loss.
Gonya scored his fourth goal of the season in the 25th minute off a rebound to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead. Graceland goalkeeper Gage Tubbs stopped a Learmond header, but couldn't hang on the ball as it teetered near the goal.
Gonya rushed in and tapped the ball into the back of the net for the lead.
Learmond doubled the Lindsey Wilson lead in the first minute of the second half on an unassisted goal. The Learmond goal is his team-leading fifth of the season.
Lindsey Wilson sophomore Greg Hartley recorded three saves in the shutout win. The Blue Raiders have yet to allow a goal in their three games this season. Tubbs allowed both Lindsey Wilson goals while stopping three Blue Raider shots.
