CLEVELAND, Tenn. -- With a new head coach and four fresh faces on the roster, the Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team is set to open the 2010 season at fourth ranked Lee (Tenn.) University at 6 p.m. CT on Monday, Aug. 23 at Walker Arena.

The Flames will be a tough test for the Blue Raiders after finishing 38-6 overall and 12-0 in the Southern States Athletic Conference in 2009. Lee returns five starters from that team that advanced to the final four of the NAIA National Championship for the first time in program history.

Lindsey Wilson returns four players that passed the century mark in kills last season when the Blue Raiders finished with a 10-25 overall record and 8-6 mark in Mid-South Conference action.

Sophomore Ashlie Haworth led the group with 292 kills in 2009, while junior Kayla Koerber struck 145. Junior Samantha Camp and sophomore Andrea Taylor connected on 129 and 113 kills, respectively.

Another strong offensive asset is the serving ability of Haworth, who led the team in aces as a freshman with 57. Koerber finished second on the team last season in blocks with 48.

A pair of freshmen will be counted on right away in outside hitter Audra McNabney from Murrieta, Calif., and middle hitter Emily Meeks from Princeton, Ky.

Freshmen Madison Wheeler and Haley Barnes provide depth in the middle alongside the veterans Koerber and Camp.

Making her coaching debut for the Blue Raiders is Heather Collins in her first season as a head coach.

Collins is a former NAIA All-American as a student athlete at Christian Heritage (Calif.) College.
