Wrestling puts together accomplished recruiting class for its second season.
Wrestling - Mon, Jun 21, 2010

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College wrestling coach Corey Ruff has signed a trio of transfer student-athletes to the 2010 recruiting class, the school announced on Monday.

Zeth St. Clair, Will Vincent and Justin Cooper join transfer Harrison Courtney, Myron Bradbury, Josh Johnson, Seth Taylor and Isaac Thomas on the list of Blue Raider standouts that includes 13 state championships and 17 state final's appearances.

St. Clair -- a transfer from Lindenwood (Mo.) University -- is a Reno, Nev., native, where he was a two-time state champion. St. Clair initially attended Sierra (Calif.) College, where he became a two-time California Junior-College All-American, finishing first and fourth at 165 pounds.

Ruff expects St. Clair to make an immediate impact for Lindsey Wilson at the 165-pound weight class.

"Zeth has his sights set on winning an individual national title," Ruff said. "Our hope is that his attitude and dedication will be infectious within our team."

Vincent has been added to make an impact at 174 pounds. The Owosso, Mich., native was a two-time place winner at the Michigan High School State Tournament, where he placed third as a junior and second as a senior. Vincent enrolled at Mott Community (Mich.) College where he was a NCWA All-American, finishing in sixth place, as well as a stint at Hastings (Neb.) College before signing with Lindsey Wilson.

At Hastings, Vincent was an NAIA Scholar Athlete, while also recording victories against ranked opponents. An injury during the season, however, forced him off the mat before he could compete in the national tournament.

"Will is going to be a great example to our younger student-athletes in the classroom," Lindsey Wilson assistant coach Abe Cross explained. "He knows how to get things done the right way and his leadership qualities will make it easier for others to follow his example. Needless to say, we are very excited to have Will join our program,"

Cooper will join the Blue Raiders after transferring from NCAA DII-member University of (Ind.) Indianapolis, where he recorded a 20-20 record as a freshman at 197 pounds in 2006. Cooper brings experience and depth to the Blue Raider's 197-pound weight class.

"Justin is going to bring a winning attitude to the wrestling room," Lindsey Wilson assistant coach Shane Perkey said. "He has the winning mindset that we are looking for at Lindsey Wilson.

"We are thrilled about this year's recruiting class," Ruff said. "They will all make an impact on our young program and represent the college with the integrity that our coaching staff demands. These are the type of student-athletes that will establish a solid foundation for the future of Blue Raider wrestling."
