Jessica Smith is tied for the MSC Championships lead after first round.

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team shot a team-total 318 on Monday to grab a seven stroke lead at the Mid-South Conference Championships played at Cherry Blossom Golf Club.

Lindsey Wilson senior Jessica Smith is tied atop the leaderboard following a four-over par 76 (39-37). Smith carded a pair of birdies in her opening round and 11 pars, each tied for the tournament lead.

University of the Cumberlands is second overall following a 325. Campbellsville University is third following a 344, host Georgetown College is fourth with a 363 and St. Catharine College is fifth after a 427. Pikeville College failed to post a team score after one of its four players withdrew during Monday's round.

Cumberlands' McKinzie Price (38-38) is tied with Smith for the lead over the 6,004 yard, par 72 course.

Lindsey Wilson seniors Krista Burton (39-39) and Cheslee Stone (40-38) are tied for third after carding 78s. Burton joined Smith and Price with two birdies in her round.

Junior Chelsey Key shot an 86 (41-45) and freshman Kelsey Joslyn fired an 87 (42-45) to round out the Blue Raider quintet. Key is tied for 11th and Joslyn is tied for 15th.

Sophomore Paola Gonzales and freshman Jennifer MacKinnon played as individuals.

Gonzales' 82 (38-44) is tied for sixth while MacKinnon's 92 (46-46) is 20th in the 31-woman field.

The final round is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. CT at Cherry Blossom.
