COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College men's cross country team signed Matthew Mattingly from Marion County High School to an NAIA scholarship, the school announced on Friday.

Mattingly, a Gravel Switch, Ky., native, will join the Blue Raiders for the 2010-11 season and is already looking forward to helping the team.

"I plan on coming in and helping the team to the best of my ability," said Mattingly. "I still feel like I can really improve my time and want to help the team finish strong in the Mid-South Conference."

Mattingly -- who's quickest 5K time is 17:02 -- always felt at home when visiting Lindsey Wilson.

"I really like Coach (Edwin) Hagans, he is a coach that can help me reach my full potential," said Mattingly. "I can't wait to get started next season, Lindsey Wilson already feels like home."
