Baseball - Tue, Apr 6, 2010

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College and Union (Tenn.) University baseball teams split a pair of tightly contested games on Tuesday as Union prevailed in the opener 13-12, while the Blue Raiders won game two 8-7 at Lindsey Wilson Park.

Chase Dalton earned the win and Jared Long picked up a save in the second game, while Union's Cody Dew was the winner in the opener.

Heath Barnes, Craig Mosier and Joseph Willis all hit home runs in the loss, while Willis added a pair of doubles after going 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBI and two runs scored. Barnes finished 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored.

Union (26-8) broke away early in the game with a five-run second inning, however Lindsey Wilson responded with four runs in the third and three in the fifth to take the lead 9-6. The advantage was short lived as Union tallied three runs in the sixth and added two more over the final two innings to seal the win.

While Levi Duncan started game two for Lindsey Wilson (18-17), throwing 5.0 innings with three strikeouts and just one earned run while scattering six hits, Dalton picked up the win in his one inning of relief.

The Blue Raiders led 5-3 heading into the top of the sixth inning when Union sent across four runs to take a 7-5 advantage. Lindsey Wilson recorded just the right amount of offense in the bottom of the inning to take an 8-5 lead that Long was able to keep in the seventh to earn his first save of the season.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 4 p.m. CT on Friday, April 9 against Pikeville (Ky.) College at Lindsey Wilson Park.
