COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College senior Freddy Luciani is the Mid-South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. The honor is the first of the season for Luciani, as well as the first for men's tennis.

The Mavacoy, Venezuela, native recorded a perfect week with three wins as Lindsey Wilson's top singles player and a member of the Blue Raiders No. 2 doubles team to earn his fourth career weekly award.

Luciani won in straight sets against the top singles players from Georgetown College and Brescia University. He teamed with Marlon Dalpont to capture doubles wins over the Tigers and Bearcats to help the Blue Raiders to 8-1 and 7-1 wins, respectively.

Luciani finished the week with a hard-fought win, notching the decisive match in the Blue Raiders' 4-3 win over Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.

After he and teammate Dalpont won their doubles match 8-1, Luciani topped WKU's Tomi Krug 7-6 (5), 6-7 (5), 7-6 (1) to send Lindsey Wilson to its third straight win after a rare match with tie breakers in every set.

With the undefeated week, Lindsey Wilson improved to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the MSC.
