OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Lindsey Wilson College wrestling program got its first taste of the NAIA National Championships today at Abe Lemons Arena.

The Blue Raiders -- in its inaugural season -- sent nine wrestlers to the mat on the first day of the national championships.

Lindsey Wilson junior Zach Marshall and sophomore Caleb Anthony picked up wins in their weight class in the double-elimination tournament.

Marshall won his first match in the heavyweight division 5-3 over California Baptist University's Alexander Evers. Marshall dropped his second match of the tournament to Dickenson State (N.D.) University's Frank Lopez. The loss dropped Marshall into tomorrow's consolation bracket.

Anthony scored a 13-9 decision win over Dickenson State's Robert Carothers in his opening round match. Anthony suffered the same fate as Marshall losing in the second round and falling into the consolation bracket.

The remaining members dropped their opening round matches, but all but one remains alive in the consolation bracket.

Thanks to Marshall and Anthony's wins, the Blue Raiders earned two points towards the team point total. Lindsey Wilson currently sits tied for 30th after the first day.

Norte Dame (Ohio) College leads the pack with 44 points. Notre Dame has 10 wrestlers in the championship flight.

The tournament continues on throughout the day on Friday with the championships in each weight class set for Saturday.
