Luis Parra picked up the win in baseball's first win of the season against Asbury College on Friday.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College baseball team started the day with a lopsided 10-2 loss to Iowa Wesleyan University, before following with a runaway win of its own, 9-1, against Asbury (Ky.) College in Friday's home openers at Lindsey Wilson Park.

Second baseman Heath Barnes paced the Blue Raiders against Iowa Wesleyan, going 2-for-3 from the plate with a home run, while center fielder Dustin Murphy sparked the offense in the win over Asbury, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored.

Lindsey Wilson got in a hole early in the days first game against the Tigers as they rolled to a 2-0 lead in the first inning as Jeremy Greene gave up two of his six runs allowed in 4.1 innings of work on the mound.

On the day, Greene gave up five hits, walked six batters and earned five runs while striking out five. Daniel Pulliam entered for Greene in the middle of the fourth, but gave up four more runs on four hits, but also struck out five batters.

Besides Barnes, the only other Blue Raider with multiple hits in the loss was left fielder Jeff Murphy going 2-for-2. Lindsey Wilson trailed just 3-2 heading into the fifth inning, but gave up four runs in the fifth and three runs in the seventh to allow the Tigers to pull away.

Iowa Wesleyan's Travis Parker picked up the win going 6.0 innings with just two earned runs and four strikeouts. Greene picked up the loss for the Blue Raiders.

In game two of the day, the Blue Raiders had little trouble dispatching Asbury. A three-run first inning and four-run second helped Lindsey Wilson to a 7-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth where they added two more runs to post the 9-1 win.

Luis Parra was dominant from the mound, with no earned runs, eight hits and two walks to go along with nine strikeouts in 6.1 innings of action. Chase Dalton entered to close the game out, but faced just two batters, striking out one to give Parra the win.

Asbury's Josh Thigpen took the loss after giving up the game's first six runs in 1.1 innings on the mound.

First baseman Justin Tucker went 3-for-4 against Asbury, scoring a run with one RBI, while short stop Drew Barrett connected on 2-of-3 hits to post three RBI. Third baseman Max Rhodes added three runs and an RBI with his 2-for-4 performance at the plate.

With the home-opener split, the Blue Raiders move to 1-3 overall on the season.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Feb. 27 against Asbury and faces Iowa Wesleyan approximately at 4 p.m. CT.
