LEBANON, Tenn. -- Jacob Ilg and Keith Klink each posted sixth-place finishes to score 15 team points as the Lindsey Wilson College wrestling team took part in the NAIA East National Qualifer before heading to the national championships.

Klink started the Blue Raiders on a high note as he upset the No. 1 seed at 125 pounds, Tyler Savage from top ranked Notre Dame (Ohio) College, 2-0 in the second round after each wrestler received an opening-round bye. Savage entered the regional qualifier as the second ranked 125 pound wrestler in the NAIA.

After recording the upset, Klink ran into a roadblock against Campbellsville's Johnny Papesh in the quarterfinals, losing a close 3-1 decision.

Then moving into the consolation bracket, Klink turned in two straight losses to seventh ranked Zach Muery from Missouri Baptist University and third ranked Dante Rini of Notre Dame to take sixth place.

Ilg, the No. 5 seed in the 184-pound bracket, started his quest towards a sixth-place finish with a loss in his opening match to No. 4 seed Allen Scruggs of Campbellsville 8-5. Ilg won his first consolation match 7-3 over University of the Cumberlands' (Ky.) Jacob Brady.

Like Klink, Ilg went on to lose two straight in the consolation bracket to fall to sixth place overall. No. 6 seed Jake Oberfoell from Missouri Baptist beat Ilg 10-5, while Scruggs beat Ilg for the second time in the fifth-place match by a medical forfeit.

Other winners for Lindsey Wilson were 157 pounder Caleb Anthony, who topped No. 5 seed Isiah Gonzalez of McKendree (Ill.) University 5-4 in the first round and pinned Bryce Neff of Cumberlands in 3:13 before being eliminated.

Kurt Wilbert posted a 10-7 decision at 165 pounds over Jack France of Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) in the first round of the consolation bracket.

Wrestling returns to action on March 5-6 at the NAIA National Tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla.
