NEWBERRY, S. C. -- Steven Rink finished 2-1 at 174 pounds to take second place at the Newberry College Open on Sunday, giving the Lindsey Wilson College wrestling team its 10th qualifier for the NAIA National Championships.

Rink pinned John Blakely from Appalachian State University in 4:37 in his opening match, followed by a 4-3 decision over T.J. Cayruth from Newberry. Rink pulled out of the title match with a medical forfeit, however he had already qualified for the national championship with the second-place finish.

Heavyweight Teddy Furnish posted a 2-2 record at the open, taking a 2-0 decision against Newberry's Corey Sullivan and accepting the win on a medical forfeit by Karl Reed of Newberry.

Jacob Ilg won his opening match at 184 pounds against Limestone College's Andrew Lloyd 9-5, before losing 5-3 to King College's Brandon Tressler in the second round. 133 Pounder Rashaun Graham was edged by Chris Woltz of North Carolina in the first round 6-4, before losing by major decision to Newberry's Jonathan Cronin 18-6.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday for Regionals in Lebanon, Tenn. The Blue Raiders will use regionals as one final chance to qualify wrestlers for nationals, while those that have qualified can obtain a national seed with a top-four finish in Lebanon.
