COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Bart Garlick has resigned as the Lindsey Wilson College swimming coach effective at the end of the current season, school officials announced on Wednesday.

A national search will begin immediately to find Garlick's successor.

"We will begin an immediate search to find the very best coach for our swimming programs," said Lindsey Wilson Athletics Director Willis Pooler. "We look forward to hiring a coach that embraces our mission while providing our student-athletes with the best possible academic and collegiate swimming experience.

"We wish Coach Garlick all the best in his future endeavors."

Garlick resigns in the middle of his first season after starting the swimming program from scratch.
